Tive Beacon

What Are Beacons?

Tive Beacons are wireless temperature sensors designed to work with Tive Solo 5G devices. They allow you to monitor temperature across multiple locations within a single shipment using just one parent tracker.

  • Up to 50 beacons can connect to one Solo 5G device
  • Range: up to 100 meters in clear line of sight
  • Battery life: up to 3 years
  • Temperature range: -40°C to 60°C
  • Accuracy: ±0.5°C between -20°C and 60°C, ±1.0°C between -40°C and -20°C
  • Reusable, multi-use design

Why Use Beacons?

Beacons are ideal when temperature needs to be monitored at multiple points inside a large shipment container or truck. They reduce the need for multiple trackers by wirelessly sending their readings to one Solo 5G device.

Common use cases include:

  • Cold chain shipments
  • Perishable goods
  • Situations requiring multi-point visibility

How It Works

Setup

  • To activate the beacon for the first time, press and hold the Check button until the blue LED blinks a few times
  • If previously activated, short-press the Check button to check battery status
    • Blue light: battery is still good
    • Red light or no light: battery is depleted, replace beacon
  • Once Bluetooth is enabled, place the beacon and Solo 5G tracker close together—they will pair automatically

Before Mounting

  • Log into the Tive Platform
  • Search for the beacon and Solo 5G tracker IDs to confirm that all devices are transmitting data properly under the tracker list. If you have created a shipment and selected both products you can check if both devices are connected.
  • Ensure all devices are pinging before placing them into the shipment container

Key Points To Know

  • Beacons use Bluetooth v4.2 to transmit data
  • Range is up to 100 meters with clear line of sight
  • Obstacles (walls, metal, thick insulation) reduce range to about 30 meters
  • If pairing is lost due to range or obstacles, some data loss may occur

Best Practices

  • Confirm beacon-tracker pairing in the platform before use
  • Avoid mounting beacons or trackers directly onto metal surfaces to maintain signal strength
  • Space beacons within recommended Bluetooth range to prevent data loss
