Credits and Usage
Staged for inclusion when usage enforcement launches (after the soft-launch grace period).
How credits work
Some workflow actions consume credits when they run. Your tier determines how many credits you get.

Once used, new workflows are blocked from starting. A comment is logged on the shipment when a workflow is blocked. Workflows already running are allowed to finish, even if that takes you over the limit. |

Workflows are never blocked for credit reasons. |
Every organization starts on the Free tier.
Which actions use credits
Not every action costs a credit. Actions that do are marked "Uses credits" on the template card and in the template editor, so you can tell before you activate.
[PLACEHOLDER — decide whether to list which action types are priced, or only surface it via "Uses credits" labels. Ties to the open "show price per action" question.]
Your balance period
Credits reset on the 1st of each month (UTC) and run to the end of the month. If your tier changes mid-month, your current balance closes and a new one starts immediately under the new tier, lasting until the end of the month. Usage shown in the UI refreshes every few minutes, so there may be a short delay.
Seeing your usage
On the Automations homepage, a badge in the top-right shows your current tier and usage (e.g. "3 / 10 credits used"). Clicking it opens a panel with credits used, credits remaining, your tier, and the current balance period.
How credits are shared
- Standard organizations: Your 10 free credits are a single shared pool across all accounts.
- 3PL organizations: Credits are allocated per account — each account gets its own 10 free credits.
