Get ready to ship with Tive Tags
Overview
This article will help you ensure that your supply chain is ready to start monitoring your temperature-sensitive shipments with Tive Tags. We’ll cover how to:
- Invite the users who will be sending/receiving your Tive Tag shipments.
- Create a Tag shipment template.
Invite Users
The first step in preparing your supply chain to handle Tive Tag shipments is ensuring that the right users have access to the Tive Tag mobile app to start and complete your shipments.
Let’s start by inviting an app-only user (a user who will only have access to the Tive Tag mobile app and not the Tive web platform).
- Log in to the Tive platform.
- Click on your initials in the top right corner of the platform, then click Organization.
- Select the Users tab and click Invite New User in the top right corner.
- Enter the user’s email whom you’d like to invite, then choose the AppOnly role from the user role dropdown (as shown below).

- This user will receive an invite to download the Tive Tag application, which they will need to download on a device that supports NFC scanning.
To configure specific roles for your shippers and receivers, see Managing Permissions for Tag Shippers and Receivers.
Creating a Tag Shipment Template
You can use shipment templates to customize the behavior of your Tive Tags and specify key shipment information (i.e. origin, destination, shipment collaborators) for commonly used lanes.
How to create a Tag Shipment Template
- Start by clicking Configure > Shipment Templates.
- Click Create New Shipment Template
- Change the Type of Template to TiveTag Template.
- In the Tag Configurations section, adjust the following settings to your desired preferences:
- Interval in Minutes. This is the rate at which your Tag takes temperature measurements. The more frequent the measurements, the more quickly you will use up the memory on the device.
- Delay in Minutes. This is a configurable period that your Tag will wait to record data after it is started. This can be a helpful way of ignoring pre-transit data if your shippers are packing shipments and scanning Tags in advance of them actually being shipped out.
- Max Measurements. If you know the total time that your shipment is meant to be in transit, you can use the max measurement field to prevent capturing irrelevant data at the end of your shipment.
- Add a Template Name that your shippers will recognize when they are starting their Tag shipments.
- In the Leg information section, you can (optionally) add a Ship From and Ship To address if you know that you will be frequently shipping between a specific origin and destination.
- If a specific temperature range must be maintained for your shipments, you can attach a temperature alert preset in the Alert Presets field. Read more about creating an alert preset here.
