Firmware is permanent software that has been programmed into read-only memory of the Tive Tracker. As technology advances Tive will regularly update the firmware with latest upgrades to increase the life, and improve the sustainability of each device.
Checking Firmware Updates
If you are a Tive Admin you are now able to ensure that all of your Tive Tracker devices are kept up to date, and our platform will keep you informed if any trackers do not have the latest firmware.
Log in to the platform as a Tive Admin:
- Navigate to Trackers page from the top menu bar.
- When on the Tracker page you will see a red banner confirming how many of your devices require a firmware update.
- To expand the tracker list, select the 'expand' button.
Within the tracker list there is a column available called 'Firmware Status', which will indicate for each tracker either:
- Update Available: There is a firmware update available
- Update Pending: The device has an update scheduled, but has not yet connected
- On Latest: The device is up to date, no action is required
Updating an Individual Tracker
Should you need to update an individual tracker, select the tracker from the list and select the 'Details 'section of that Tracker:
Scroll down to Firmware Status where you can select 'Update Available'
A new pop-up will appear to confirm that this action will install during the next transmission interval and may cause the device to skip data transmissions whilst it update the firmware. We recommend updating firmware in a strong signal area, in advance of shipping, however it can be updated whilst in travel if necessary.
n.b. The measurements will still be taken by the tracker during the usual measurement intervals, however the data cannot be transmitted to the platform until the firmware update has completed.
For example: If your interval cycle is set to transmit every 20 minutes and a firmware update takes 3 interval cycles to complete, the measurements during that 60 minutes will record as usual in the tracker, but will not transmit to the platform for those 3 transmission intervals.
Once ready to install, select 'Apply Update'
Bulk updating more than one Tracker
From the original banner, select 'Update All'
A further pop-up will appear to confirm your decision to either:
- Apply updates to all devices
- Apply updates to all devices not on an active shipment (recommended)
n.b. We recommend updating firmware in a strong signal area in advance of shipping, however it can be updated whilst in travel if necessary.
Once ready to install, select 'Apply Update'
