Tive’s shipment-oriented platform offers Shipment scheduling with custom information fields, reusable Shipment Templates, and Alert Presets for faster configuration, full visibility of in-progress shipments, and access to historical shipment records. Here’s how it works.
On the top blue bar, click Shipments for the following menu:
List shipments that are in transit, upcoming, or completed
Compare shipment statistics to find the most efficient route/carrier
Start/schedule an upcoming shipment
Scheduling An Upcoming Shipment
On the Shipments menu click “Create New Shipment” to begin.
2. Shipment ID: Set a unique name and description for the shipment. You can also use custom ID fields to integrate your existing naming conventions into the Tive platform, so you can easily look up your shipment and access all the associated tracker data at any time
3. Link the tracker(s) of your choice
4. Legs (multi-leg shipments):
For Shipments that make more than one stop, multiple Legs can be created for each stop that the shipment will make. To create a Leg simply insert a Ship From Address, select the Mode (Road, Air, Ocean, Rail) and the Carrier, then add the Stop Address. A second Leg can be added by selecting a new Mode, Carrier, and Stop Address.
Ship Date: automatically starts a scheduled shipment on the specified date (and enables alerts)
Delivery Date: optionally add to get the following useful information:
- Progress indicator on the shipment page
- Enables the use of ETA and associated delay alerts in Alert Presets
- Allows the autocompletion of shipments, ending all alerts
Carrier: Name and log your carriers (e.g. FedEx Ground), so they can be analyzed later
Mode: Select the mode of your shipment (Road, Air, Ocean, Rail). Choosing the Mode as Ocean or Air will display the option to add:
- Container ID (MMSI): shows the location of the boat while your cargo is in the ocean
- AWB: the Air Waybill is used to extract location coordinates while your shipment is on the air
Click the green Create Shipment button at the top of the screen to make the shipment available in the In Transit/Upcoming Shipments list.
Shipment Status - Monitoring Shipments in Transit
An active shipment that has linked tracker(s) can be viewed in the list of shipments In Transit. Click on one of your shipments in the list to view its Status which includes location and tracker information (distance to destination, ETA, sensor data, and more).
The Alerts tab will display all alerts generated as events and the Alert Presets used for this shipment. To gain more insight about a specific alert simply click on the event of your choosing
Trackers: See the associated tracker(s) and update the frequency of measurement and transmission of data to the Platform
Details: See any Custom Fields added and view your Planned Route where the shipment legs are displayed
Reports: Generate a PDF/CSV document with your desired range of information from this shipment
Complete a Shipment
If a Shipment is set to complete upon arrival at its final location, then it will automatically complete when the tracker arrives at the destination address. If it has not been set to auto-complete, then the platform will prompt you to “Complete Shipment” when the tracker arrives at the destination location.
If you want to complete the shipment prior to delivery, navigate to the Shipment page and click the check option in the upper-left part of the page.
Completing a shipment will decouple the tracker from the shipment.
Completed Shipments will be available to you for reference at any time.
