The custom user roles feature on the Tive Platform lets an organization admin unlock granular control of real-time shipment visibility data with users in or outside of the organization to enable secure, efficient collaboration so that shipments arrive on time and in full.
An organization admin can create, edit, or delete custom user roles. These roles include specific permissions to real-time shipment location, condition, and reporting data access for people in or outside of their organization, including people who don’t already have a Tive account. Here are the permissions an organization admin can turn on/off for a user role.
- Create/schedule/start shipments
- Register/edit trackers
- View saved templates and presets - alerts, shipments, carriers, locations
- Invite/remove users for User management
- Edit/share shipment access with collaborators, and shipment reporting
An organization admin can create any number of user roles.
1. Shipment data permissions
An organization admin can grant users in or outside of their organization permissions to view real-time shipment location or condition data and alert presets for a single shipment or for all shipments. The permissions include the ability to:
- View all location/condition data and alerts
- View only location data and alerts
Benefits:
- Get peace of mind knowing that only the people you want will see the shipment location and condition data
2. Share shipment visibility data
Users can share real-time shipment location and condition data with any user they chose, in or outside of their organization. This also includes sharing shipments with people who don’t already have a Tive account.
When sharing real-time shipment location or condition data, the user can choose the desired data access level to be shared.
Once a user can access a shipment, they also get notifications for that shipment.
Benefits:
- Share real-time shipment visibility data with your shippers, carriers, receivers, and 3PLs to streamline collaboration.
- Ensure data security by controlling who can access and edit your shipment location and condition data
3. Shipment reports permissions
Organization admins can grant users in or outside of their organization access to shipment reports. The report access permissions are:
- Only users in an organization can view the report and alert presets
- Anyone the shipment is shared with can view the specific shipment report and alert presets
These two report permissions can also be granted for auto-generated reports - (setting available at the account level)
Benefits:
- Share reports with users in or outside of your organization, so they can view the same actionable insights
Note: The visibility option for a given report can’t be modified once the report is generated.
Custom Role Creation and Management
Custom User Roles can be created and modified by navigating to your Organization settings and then viewing your Users.
Along with the user information (name, position, email, number of accounts they're assigned to), you will also be able to see the user role. The dropdown will allow you to choose which of the existing roles should be assigned to each user.
The two Platform default roles are "Admin" and "General".
Both of these roles can be modified and new roles can be created by clicking the Manage Roles button at the top left side of the screen, below the main blue bar menu.
When editing an existing role or creating a new one, you are able to modify the role name to anything that resonates with the permissions that will be given. Some possible roles can be:
- Supply Chain Operations Manager
- Logistics Coordinator
- Shipper
- Receiver
